Who we are
We are a Zilla Parishad primary school, Katvate Wasti Karkamb located in a remote area of Solapur district, Maharashtra. 42 students are enrolled in our school. Most of the students are children of daily wage workers. We want to establish a well-equipped library for the students to discover the joy of reading.
Our work and its impact
We hope that by helping the students develop a reading habit, we will broaden their horizons and introduce them to new topics. Reading regularly will help improve their academic performance and also enhance their social-emotional intelligence.
How we will utilise these books
The funds will be utilised to set up a library in our school and initiate a reading programme. It will be a safe and joyful reading space where students can explore the world of storybooks at their own pace. The multilingual storybooks from Pratham Books will enable our students to improve their reading and writing skills in both English and Marathi, thus boosting their self-confidence.
