Who we are
One book, One pen, One child and one teacher can change the world. Vidhyadaanam's motto is to enhance the learning levels of the students studying in Government schools thereby creating an environment and process which will ensure empowerment by education. We are initiating a small project to rejuvenate the libraries across select government schools. We plan to inculcate a reading habit, in the kids, where they get to read a book, everyday and also borrow one book home, per week.
Our work and its impact
Today, thousands of children are out of school fighting a daily battle for their survival. Vidhyadaanam is a tiny initiative to work together with the government schools for improving the quality of education imparted in remote villages. Vidhyadaanam was started around 2005 with a vision to contribute to education that facilitates an equitable and sustainable society. It is run by a group of like-minded professionals who maintain the collection, coordination, and distribution. Vidhyadaanam is an organically growing organization, in every way, purely run by volunteers.
How we will utilise these books
Vidhyadaanamwas started with a vision to contribute to education that facilitates an equitable and sustainable society. As we work on an "operating model" and not a "funding model", we recognize the importance of creating institutional “social infrastructure” to complement the government and as an operating or implementing group, we work hand-in-hand with the government schools to improve the quality of education across these schools. Vidhyadaanam aims to setup libraries in select government schools. The collected funds will be utilized for buying books for children in English, Kannada and Hindi. The children can read the books at school and also borrow one book home, per week. The books and inventory will be closely monitored by the teachers of the school, and also by us, at Vidhyadaanam.
