Come join us, this Children’s Day, in illuminating the lives of the young souls in Uri, Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir with enriching books from Pratham. We all can bring to life this adage by building avenues to read in remotest of areas, like the border villages of our country. The funds raised from this campaign will be used to distribute storybooks to schools, community libraries and resource centres that work directly with children.
We hope to bridge the learning gap through the magical power of storybooks.
Donate today and help us put ‘a book in every child’s hand’.
This initiative aims to bring quality reading material in multiple languages to more than 500 children in Uri who grapple with the intricacies of being in a border area which is in close proximity to the India-Pakistan LOC (Line of Control).
Avantika Srivastava, a passionate social development professional, is determined to begin by setting up six libraries in six schools of village Zamur Patan with the on-ground support of the Indian Army. In parallel, organise workshops with a focus on skill enhancement; seeking inspiration from the round-the-clock efforts of the Indian Army to nurture camaraderie and advancement of growth via education. The hope is to set in motion a movement of reading and learning.
The pillars of the project are –
-Nourishing knowledge hubs by setting up infrastructure in the form of libraries and educative community spaces
-Cultivating conversations on education by orchestrating community events centred on the pivotal role of lifelong learning along with young changemakers from different walks of life, especially from J&K.
-Encourage skilling as a path to better living nudged by the power of stories
“When the mind nurtures ideas of innovation, one is nudged towards possibilities, giving the courage and skills to counter the volatility of life close to the LOC” – shared a resident of Uri. By bringing educational exchanges through libraries and events, one can help many more residents nurture the vast possibilities of life.
Let’s unite to support the joy of learning as the bridge towards peace & prosperity.
With your backing, we can truly realise that-
“Everyone has the right to learn; to provide it, we don’t need to be millionaires, we just need to be kind.”
“The one who reads gets to experience many lives in one.” – paraphrased from a quote by George R.R. Martin.
Your generosity will gift hundreds of children a learning paradise, fuelling them with dreams, confidence and persistence, charting a course for a brighter and harmonious future for many lives.
