Who we are
Swapnopuron Welfare Society (SWS) is dedicated to providing quality education to all children in the remote islands of the Sundarbans. Our mission is centred on promoting socio-economic empowerment and ensuring increased access to entitlements for the community. With a steadfast commitment to the local population for over 7 years, SWS has effectively implemented teaching and learning strategies that focus on achievement-oriented outcomes. Swapnopuron operates the only English medium school for marginalised children in the Sundarbans and collaborates with government schools.
Our work and its impact
Swapnopuron Welfare Society has established the only English Medium school in Sundarbans’ Hingalganj Block in West Bengal, named Swapnopuron Sikhsha Niketan School (SSN). This school offers a unique blend of multi-sectoral teaching methods, integrating music, dance, drama, and storytelling to enrich the learning experience. Our holistic approach combines phonetic teaching, experiential and hands-on learning, cognitive reinforcement, and communication development. The organisation aims to enhance the living conditions of children and women by adopting strategies that foster community initiatives, participation, and sensitization in areas like child protection, child rights, and community development.
How we will utilise these books
The storybooks from Pratham Books will be indispensable tools for learning. They will be woven into the school's curriculum to bolster literacy and language development. The children, many of whom are first-generation learners, will gain access to a diverse array of educational materials, enhancing their reading and comprehension abilities.
The books will also serve as catalysts for creativity and cultural enrichment. They will be integrated into activities like storytelling, drama, and art, enabling the children to express themselves and hone their talents.
Furthermore, these books will benefit not just the students but the broader community as well. Given Swapnopuron Welfare Society's dedication to community initiatives and participation, these resources will be shared with and used by families and neighbours, amplifying the reach and impact of the donations.
