Who we are
This School has an intervention with Teach For India that works towards Education Equity. The re are classes which don't have teachers due to lack of teachers in the school. The problems that we face in a day to day basis is hard to explain. The gap is huge and the resources are minimal. However we know that there some of the brightest minds waiting to be nurtured. All they need is the right kind of support.
Our work and its impact
Shevantabai Dangat Patil School is a Govt school that serves 300 students from Wadgaon Budruk community, Pune. The school lacks basic infrastructure. There is no Library. Every day I see my students eyes lit up when I give them story books to read. The difference between them or anyone else in other well equipped private schools is just the kind of environment they are in, the exposure they have and the luxuries they enjoy which unfortunately, our students do not.
How we will utilise these books
Setting up a school library is one of the initiatives towards reforming the school and providing the kids with right access to resources and expose them to the world of knowledge. This will definitely improve their interest towards learning and help them to attain the knowledge and learning opportunities that they well deserve. The funds will be utilized to get around 300 Pratham Books and 2 Library - in - a - classroom kits. This would definitely add value to the library.
