Who we are
Sir Syed Trust, established in 2008, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of impoverished and marginalized communities, with a special focus on socio-economically disadvantaged groups, women, and children. We work across the Alwar district of Rajasthan, Derabassi in Punjab, and the Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh.
The Sir Syed Trust believes in the knowledge, skills, and resilience of the communities it serves. Its mission is to empower socio-economically disadvantaged communities through education, women's empowerment, livelihood support, natural resource management, and skill development for employment generation. By adopting a rights-based approach and encouraging active community participation, the Trust strives to create sustainable and dignified improvements in people's lives.
Our work and its impact
We work to improve educational outcomes for children from underserved communities by addressing learning gaps caused by poverty, limited access to quality educational resources, and high school dropout rates. Through our community-based remedial learning centres, trained educators provide personalized academic support, strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy skills, and create engaging learning opportunities for children who have fallen behind in school.
Our programmes also encourage regular school attendance, build children's confidence, and promote active participation from parents and the community. By ensuring that every child has access to quality learning support, we help children stay in school, improve their academic performance, and develop the skills they need for a brighter, more self-reliant future, ultimately contributing to stronger and more equitable communities.
Since its inception, Sir Syed Trust has positively impacted more than 27,500 marginalized families through its various development initiatives.
How we will utilise these books
The procured storybooks will be used in community-based remedial learning centres and school libraries to improve children's reading, comprehension, and critical thinking skills. They will support structured reading sessions, storytelling activities, group reading, and independent reading. Teachers and volunteers will integrate the books into daily learning activities to strengthen reading skills, build vocabulary, and encourage a lifelong reading habit. The books will also be available for children to borrow, enabling them to continue reading at home with the support of their families. This approach will help bridge reading gaps, and foster a culture of reading within the community.
