Who we are

Sankalp is a Nagpur, Maharashtra based NGO working in improving the access to education for socially and economically marginalised communities. The NGO has been working in this field since 2007. Our mission is to provide high-quality yet affordable skill development programs to empower young individuals from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

We strive to offer employability enhancement programs that are both relevant and impactful, ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial or social constraints. Our goal is to equip youth with the skills necessary to meet the challenges of an evolving socio-economic landscape. Since our inception, Sankalp has reached over 10,000 students in just four years, making a tangible difference in their lives.

Our work and its impact

We have established five children’s libraries in different slum areas of Nagpur. These libraries serve children from underprivileged backgrounds who otherwise have limited or no access to books. Through these libraries, we provide quality children’s literature, organise storytelling sessions, and engage children in creative and meaningful activities.

By introducing children to the vibrant world of literature, we help foster a love for reading, spark their imagination, and encourage learning. These engagements also serve as a constructive alternative to antisocial influences, promoting personal growth and community well-being.

How we will utilise these books

The funds raised through this campaign will be used to procure children's storybooks from Pratham Books, and these books will be used to expand our community libraries to six additional centers in Kaloda Kalan, Jind (Haryana). Each library is managed by trained local volunteers who oversee basic library functions and facilitate lending. Books will be issued to children on a regular basis, encouraging daily reading habits and continued engagement.
