Who we are
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) India is dedicated to keeping families close when their children are undergoing medical treatment. We create spaces of care and comfort near hospitals, so parents can stay close to their children during critical times without the stress of distance, cost, or isolation. In India, families often travel long distances to access treatment for childhood illnesses, including cancer. The financial and emotional burden of accommodation and food makes an already difficult journey even harder. RMHC bridges this gap by providing safe, supportive spaces at no cost to families. We achieve this through our family rooms and house programs. We have 2 family rooms and 1 house in India.
Our goal is to ensure no child faces treatment without the comfort and strength of family by their side. RMHC India is part of the global RMHC network present in over 60 countries, collectively serving millions of families every year.
Our work and its impact
At Ronald McDonald House India, we support families of children undergoing serious medical treatment by keeping them close to their child. Through our Family Rooms located within hospitals, we provide parents and caregivers with a free space to rest, refresh, and find strength, just steps away from their child’s bedside. For many families in India, especially those who travel from distant towns and villages, accessing healthcare often comes with the added burden of high accommodation costs, emotional stress, and isolation. By easing these challenges, RMHC ensures that families can focus entirely on their child’s recovery.
The impact is two-fold: children feel more secure and heal better with their families close by, and parents gain the resilience to face medical challenges without the worry of additional financial or emotional strain.
By bridging this vital gap in the healthcare journey, RMHC strengthens not only individual families but also the larger community making sure no child faces illness without the comfort and support of family and no family has to choose between treatment and survival.
How we will utilise these books
The books collected through this fundraiser will be used to create a reading corner inside the Ronald McDonald Family Room at the Government Cancer Hospital in Aurangabad. This Family Room is a safe, comforting space for families of children undergoing cancer treatment.
The books will provide comfort and joy to young patients and their families as they go through long hours of treatment and hospital stays. Stories help children cope with stress, encourage imagination, and bring moments of normalcy and hope during a difficult journey. Parents and caregivers can also use the books to spend quality time with their children, creating positive memories even in the midst of medical challenges.
Through your support, we aim to build a small library of courage and hope, a place where every page brings healing, strength, and smiles to children fighting cancer in Aurangabad.
