Who we are
We started Library in Sriram colony and many children benefited. Even those who cannot read come and take books saying " I will ask my mother/father to read for me". This was an eye opener for us and our aim is to set up proper library with variety of books.
Our work and its impact
We are Delhi based NGO engaged in promoting community based low learning centres in urban slums and remote rural areas. We run two children learning centres in Delhi and 5 community based schools in rural areas in Manipur and Assam reaching out to more than 1200+ children. Children from poor communities did not have any other additional reading materials besides their school books. Hence, we promote children library wherever we work be it in urban slums or rural school areas. Our library are opened for all children from the community.
How we will utilise these books
As mentioned above we run Children learning centres in two urban slums in Delhi and 5 community based schools in remote rural areas in 3 districts in Manipur and Majuli island in Assam. In Manipur, we also promote peace building through our school children among conflicting communities. As result, today, we have both Naga-Kuki children studying together in our school and as a result, there is regular contact among their parents as well. We also work with the poor parents on multiple community development programs to enhance their income and livelihood so that they are able to support their children's education uninterrupted at least up to 10 standards. The fund will be utilized for buying good story books for the children. We will be more than happy if donors can also suggest the name of books they want us to buy from the money they donated. We will not use any part of this fund to cover either Admin or program cost. 100% of the fund will be used for buying books for children library.
