Who we are

Rang Kaarwaan is a grassroots organisation working with children, young people, and communities in rural Uttarakhand. We focus on education, reading, creativity, and community participation. Through village libraries and learning spaces, we bring books and learning opportunities closer to children who have limited access to such resources.

Currently, we are strengthening village libraries by adding more books, improving infrastructure, and creating better learning spaces. We also document local stories and cultural practices to preserve them for future generations.

Our work and its impact

We work with children, young people, and communities in rural villages of Uttarakhand. We run and support village libraries where children can access books and have a safe space to read, learn, and express themselves.

We organise storytelling, theatre, art, creative learning, and reading activities that help children build confidence, curiosity, and communication skills. In many villages, children have limited access to books and creative learning spaces outside school. By bringing these resources closer to them, we encourage regular reading and learning.

We also work with young people and communities on local issues such as migration, limited opportunities, and the loss of local stories and culture. Through our work, we aim to create better learning spaces and encourage children and young people to actively participate in their communities.

How we will utilise these books

The books raised through this fundraiser will help expand our library initiative. They will be used by children and young people in our village library. The books will be available for regular reading during library hours, and children will be encouraged to choose books according to their interests.

We will also use the books during reading sessions, storytelling, group discussions, and creative activities. Children will be able to borrow books and take them home so that they can continue reading with their families. The books will be organised according to age and reading level, making it easier for children to find suitable books.

We will also maintain a simple record of the books borrowed and read by children to understand their reading habits and encourage regular reading. Our aim is not only to add more books to the library, but also to ensure that the books are actively used and become a regular part of children's learning and everyday lives.
