Who we are
We asked kids across government schools in Bihar, 1 question - How would you change your school, if you could. 10,000 kids responded, by sending Business Plans and we have long-listed 101 kids school-change ideas. So all of this to day, we’re having an all-day pitch-it event, where 101 kids will present their ideas for changing their schools. 50/100 schools will win. We want to award the top 50 schools a Library Kits along with funds to change their schools. The kids, their stories and plans are powerful voices for change.
Our work and its impact
Going to School, the organisation running The Kids Sustainable School Challenge, is a creative not- for-profit education trust, established in 2003 in New Delhi, we’re proud to have been working in thousands of schools teaching over 300,000 kids 21st Century Entrepreneurial skills at school through stories, games and weekly action projects in Bihar, since 2012. Going to School has an MOU with the Government of Bihar to be able to work in secondary government schools teaching kids skills at school.
How we will utilise these books
As an organisation, we create design-driven stories, games, content to teach kids entrepreneurial skills at school and on national television. Clean energy. Climate Change. Sustainability. Girls. Social Enterprise. Young Entrepreneurs. 21st Century skills are themes that define and run through what we do. We believe in the power of girls to transform their lives and world around them by learning skills at school. For over 13 years, we’ve been investing in the transformative power of the poorest young people on the planet to learn skills at school so they can get a job, or create a job by launching a local sustainable enterprise that uses clean energy and takes on climate change. These funds will be utilised to set up a collection of books in each of the 50 schools that win at the first Kids' Sustainable School Challenge in Bihar.
