Our work and its impact

நாங்கள் தொடர்ந்து “கழுதை புத்தக வாசிப்புத் திருவிழா” என்ற புதுமையான முயற்சியின் வழி பின்தங்கிய சமூகங்களைச் சேர்ந்த குழந்தைகளிடம் புத்தகங்களையும் கலையையும் நேரடியாகக் கொண்டுச் செல்கிறோம். " கழுதை " பொதுவா ஏன் ஒரு வசை சொல்லா இருக்கு.ஆனால், அந்த அவப்பெயரை குழந்தைகள் மனதில் மாற்றுவதற்கே, கழுதை என்கிற பெயரை பயன் படுத்துறோம். கழுதை என்கிற பெயரில் தொடர்ந்து நிகழ்வு நடத்தும் போது, அவர்கள் அதை ஒரு நீங்கள் வோட பெயரா பார்த்து, கேட்டு வருவதன் மூலம் யாரையும் கழுதை என திட்ட மாட்டாங்க, கழுதையை ஒரு இழிவாக நடத்தவும் பார்க்கவும் மாட்டாங்க என்ற எண்ணத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டது.

மற்றும் கழுதை பல கரடு முரடானா மலைப் பகுதிகளில் போதியை தூக்கி செல்ல பயன் படுத்த படுகிறது. மெதுவாக சென்றாலும் இலக்கை அடையும் வரை ஓய்வு இல்லாமல் கொண்டு போய் சேர்க்கும். அதே போல் நம் இயக்கமும் மெதுவாக போனாலும் இலக்கை அடையும் வரை ஓய்வு இல்லாமல்செல்லும்

குழந்தைகள் பல்வேறு புத்தகங்களைப் பார்த்து, தங்கள் கற்பனைகளை விரித்துக்கொள்ள ஊக்குவிக்கிறோம். எழுத்தறிவைக் கடந்து, உணர்வுரீதியான, படைப்பாற்றல் வளர்ச்சியையும் உருவாக்க உதவுகிறோம். குழந்தைகளின் தினசரி வாழ்க்கையில் புத்தகங்களும் கலையும் சேர்ந்தால், சுயாதீன சிந்தனையும் கற்றலில் மகிழ்ச்சியும் வளரும் என்று நம்புகிறோம் – அவையே சமத்துவமான, வளரும் சமூகத்துக்கு அத்தியாவசியமான அடிப்படைகளாகும்.

We have been continuously running “Kazhudhai Book Reading Festival”, a unique initiative that takes books and art directly to children in underserved communities. Generally, "kazhudhai" (donkey) is used as a demeaning term. But, we are using it intentionally to challenge and change that negative perception in children's minds. By continuously organizing events under the name "Kazhudhai," children will start seeing the name as something positive and familiar. Hearing and associating it with your initiative, they won't call anyone a donkey in a derogatory way, nor will they see the animal as something lowly. Moreover, donkeys are used in many rugged, hilly terrains to carry loads. Even though they move slowly, they never stop until they reach their destination. In the same way, our movement too will keep going—slowly, but without rest—until we reach our goal.

By exposing children to a wide range of books and encouraging them to explore their imagination, we help build not only literacy but also emotional and creative development. We believe that by weaving books and art into children’s everyday lives, we can foster independent thinking and joy in learning—essential ingredients for a thriving, equitable society.
