Who we are
Metta Foundation is an NGO established in 2013 that empowers children from tribal and underprivileged backgrounds with the gift of education. Our aim is to bridge the gap in accessibility to quality education in the form of educational projects, scholarships, after-school and skill development programmes.
Our work and its impact
We set up pre-primary centres for children aged between 2-6 years to lay a strong foundation for their emotional and intellectual development. The centre is equipped with toys, storybooks, and other educational resources.
We support children from the warli community studying in classes 1-7 with their education and artistic development through our Tribal School Support programme.
As part of our Scholarship programme, we identify bright students from economically disadvantaged communities and enable them to pursue their higher education by providing financial support.
Through our Library In Every Class programme we install a small library that can hold 35-40 storybooks in classrooms in various schools.
How we will utilise these books
The funds from our campaign will be used to procure multilingual storybooks from Pratham Books for our customised library bags that will be distributed to tribal schools in Dahanu, Wada, Javhar, Manor, and Igatpuri areas in rural Maharashtra. We will also customise the library bags according to reading levels.
This will help us foster a culture of reading among the children and help them grow into independent readers who can read both English and regional languages fluently.
