Who we are

Lok Vichar Pratishthan Parbhani Akshar Anand Vachan Sanskar Kendra has been active in eight districts of Maharashtra for the past five years, with a mission to promote reading and instil a reading culture, especially among children. They employ various methods to achieve this goal, including family reading initiatives, finding excuses to read, organising book reading competitions, establishing Reading Culture Centers, and encouraging discussions about the books read. This organisation is dedicated to fostering a love for reading and books in children, reaching out to villages, settlements, and different schools in the region.

Lok Vichar Pratisthan is a social welfare organisation primarily focused on educational initiatives. They run the Wachan Sanskar Kendra, a reading and writing centre in Parbhani, Maharashtra, which has been running the Akshar Anand campaign for over two years. Additionally, they conduct educational programs related to astronomy, promote cycling for health and pollution awareness, and work to eliminate superstitious beliefs within the community.

Our work and its impact

The organisation's work has a significant impact on society by:

  1. Changing students' thought processes and fostering a positive mindset.
  2. Cultivating creativity in young minds.
  3. Influencing behavioural changes.
  4. Addressing national, social, and family problems through understanding and problem-solving.
  5. Promoting a love for reading and an improved lifestyle.
Through the Akshar Anand campaign, they organise various reading and writing activities in public places of worship like temples and mosques, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of reading among both adults and children. By setting an example through the active participation of parents and family members in reading, they encourage children to develop an interest in reading. The organisation also conducts reading competitions to engage the entire community.

How we will utilise these books

The funds raised through this campaign will be used to acquire joyful, age-appropriate storybooks from Pratham Books. The books will be kept at the Akash Anand reading culture centre. Lokvichar Pratishthan will run a reading movement engaging the children in rural areas with social activities with the help of volunteers.
