Who we are

Deveragunta is a small village 60 km North of Vijayawada and 7km from Nuzvid with a community of 100% agriculture. Since majority of parents prefer to send their children as agriculture labour onto the farms to earn a few rupees, rather than opportune them with a full time education. It means these children goes 2~3 days to school per week, remaining time they do work as an agriculture labour. The programme aims to inculcate a genuine love of reading which should promote sense oneness among the people of our village.

Our work and its impact

I am writing this letter today as a lead Engine designer. This is the journey of how I went from studying in a government school from a village where majority of parents prefer to send their children as agriculture labourers on to the farms to earn few rupees, rather than opportune them with full time education. From this phase to earning master’s degree from Indian institute of technology Madras and winning Gold medal, Merit award for best academic performance. For this first and foremost, I would like to thank god for his never-ending grace, mercy during every toughest times of my life since my childhood.

How we will utilise these books

Though some of the students from our village are really brilliant, as they have a wealth of practical knowledge and know how to survive even in very harsh conditions of life, lack of textbooks, lack of facilities and their poverty are a hurdle in their education. This results in a very low number of students actually clearing their secondary education and taking admission in colleges for further studies. So the drop-out-rate at the secondary level is extremely high in my village. These facts have made it pertinent to broaden our vision and deepen our roots by bringing education to each child in need. The project consists of supporting all ages of people in our village irrespective of their sex, caste, creed and religion. Some of the things planned in the next 12 month calendar year are as follows: • Setup a library with 1500 books and magazine subscriptions • Procure basic furniture for the library setup The programme also aims to inculcate a genuine love of reading, with this mission in mind, the programme set out to create high-quality and affordable books and magazines, papers which should promote communal harmony and sense oneness among the people of our village. Village library program aims to set up 1500 books by next 12 months with basic library amenities. In addition to this our programme aims to support individual graduated students career development by ensuring continuous learning and training. Since we don’t have dedicated library building, To start with I can able to spare portion of my house which is located at center of my village. Funds are accepted most preferably in the form of books and Library amenities.
