Who we are
A community centre is a holistic learning environment where kids after school spend their time learning not just academic content but also other areas of overall child development ranging from arts and craft to dance, theatre and drama, from outdoor sports to literature based learning. Prime focus of starting a centre for kids is to give them access and exposure and push them to think critically and logically in their day to day lives.
Our work and its impact
We are four Teach For India fellows who teach grade 2 and grade 3 kids respectively in low income school of Wadgaonsheri community in Pune. We have started a community centre for bunch of 63 kids last year and this year we are scaling it to 140 kids.
How we will utilise these books
We are full time teachers teaching 66 grade 2 kids and 66 grade 3 kids in a low income government school. With these books, we aim to expose kids to wide array of literacy and reading genre and cultivate love for reading right from early stage of their life. These funds will be utilised to setup library for kids of four classrooms. Kids will be exposed to reading during school hours and post school hours at community centre. Further with these books, we aim to drive critical thinking and creativity in kids' approach.
