Who we are
I volunteer at a shelter home run by U & I which is a non-profit organization. Under the after-school learning program, we teach children from underprivileged backgrounds with courses in English, Maths, Science, and Social Studies. Here children are given a holistic education through science camps, field trips, art workshops, and career-building workshops, in order to build their confidence. Our goal is to give every student the opportunity to shine in the classroom - and beyond.
Our work and its impact
I volunteer to teach children during the weekends and it has been quite a journey with immense learning. I see that there is a huge learning gap in the students and I, as a tutor, work hard to bridge the gap. Having said that, we not only focus on subjects but also focus on building values and life skills through a structured curriculum. I believe all these efforts will translate into creating better humans in the future and have a ripple effect.
How we will utilise these books
These books will serve as a library to the children, where they will have the opportunity to read at their own level and gradually hone their reading skills. We are also looking to use these books as a resource to instill the art of storytelling among them. But it is not limited to that: the children can turn to books to experience the joy of colorful illustrations and drift into a world of imagination.
