Who we are
In the heart of rural Uttarakhand, where the mountains whisper stories and children walk miles to reach a classroom, we're planting the seeds of change—one book at a time.
Jeevan Deep Samiti, dedicated NGO working at the grassroots for rural education and nature conservation in this beautiful yet underserved region. Our mission is to create lasting impact through education, and our next dream is to build a Community Library in our charitable primary school. This library won’t just be shelves filled with books—it will be a safe space for learning, dreaming, and growing. A place where students can explore worlds beyond their village. Where youth can find guidance, and where the local community can gather, read, learn, and connect.
We aim to bring books, learning materials, internet access, and educational programs to hundreds of children and villagers who’ve never had access to such a space before.
Our work and its impact
For the past 13 years, we have been running a charitable primary school in rural Uttarakhand, providing free and quality education to children who otherwise have limited access to learning resources. Our school creates a strong foundation for young minds, empowering them with knowledge and confidence for a better future.
Beyond education, we actively engage the local community in environmental efforts. With the support of the Forest Department, we regularly organize plantation drives and cleanliness campaigns. These initiatives not only help preserve the natural beauty of the region but also instill a sense of responsibility and environmental awareness among villagers and youth. We are dedicated to uplifting our community through education and conservation, working toward a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
How we will utilise these books
The books raised through this campaign from Pratham books will be utilised as the foundation of a new community library that will be established within our primary school. This library will serve as a shared resource for both our students and the wider community, including local youth.
During school hours, the library will support students by providing access to age-appropriate reading materials, fostering curiosity, and nurturing a love for reading. Outside of school hours, the library will remain open to the community, offering a welcoming space for local youth to read and engage. The books will support a variety of initiatives such as reading clubs, homework support sessions, and community workshops, ensuring they are actively used and have a lasting impact.
