Who we are

Janwaar Castle has built India's first rural skatepark. The idea is to pivot the life of the villagers and especially kids making them self-confident and positive for future. The effect of the skatepark has been amazing. Since one year, the kids have learned English speaking and understanding skills and rarely skip school, showing their eagerness to learn. This is beside the fact that their skateboards have become an extension of their body and that too without any formal training.

Our work and its impact

What started in late 2014 as the private initiative “Janwaar Castle” of Ulrike Reinhard (idea and concept) and Shyamendra Singh (local support) has now its necessary legal frameset. Ulrike Reinhard is the company’s CEO. She earned her degrees in marketing, HR and economics at one of the leading business universities in Europe, Mannheim University, and she worked as a freelance consultant for organizations all over the world. She is supported and guided by currently three directors: – Mehmood Khan, ex global head of innovation at Unilever and managing trustee at the Rasuli Kanwar Khan Trust – Mrutyunjay Mishra, co-founder of Juxt Smartmandate and – Shyamendra Singh, owner of Pugdundee Safaris

How we will utilise these books

JCO was established in 2016 to uplift the lives of the villagers in Janwaar, especially those of the Janwaar children. It is a sandbox project for which the principles are clearly defined (without being taught or said) and inside this sandbox everything is possible. It is up to the children what we take forward. In our case, the sandbox is s skateboard park, where kids can learn according to their will. Since one year, the kids have changed. They are more interested in learning than ever before. We don't just need books, we need the ones that provoke them to think and visualise. These kids have become passionate to learn, and Pratham books are exactly what they need at this stage.
