Who we are
Jan Briddhi Foundation is a nonprofit organisation that was established in 2022. The organisation mainly focuses on the fields of education, environment, health and crisis management. We mainly work in the fields of education, environment, health and crisis management. Our free coaching programme has helped more than 150 meritorious students from economically underprivileged backgrounds qualify for the National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) which provides them with financial support to pursue higher education.
Our work and its impact
‘Puhor: Siksha ki aur ek Yatra’ educational project is targeted to impact 1400 children in 33 migration centres across Barpeta district in Assam. Migrant workers from various villages work in the brick factories in Barpeta for six months from November to April, after which they have to return to their hometowns to avoid the floods that hit Barpeta every year. The migration centres are run during these six months.
Children from these migrant families face issues related to health and hygiene, education, nutrition and delayed distribution of textbooks from the Government. This leads to an increase in child labour and child marriage. Jan Briddhi Foundation is working to create a holistic environment to help children learn and raise awareness among parents about the importance of education.
How we will utilise these books
The funds from this campaign will be used to get storybooks for the 33 migration centres in Barpeta district, Assam. The books will also be part of a floating Book Bank, as the district is a very flood-prone area. This will make it easier for the children to access the books. Education Volunteers will take up the responsibility of monitoring how the children use the books as well as the general management of the book bank.
