Know more about us
Who we are
CanShala is a formal school that is aimed at children battling cancer. This unique initiative started in Mumbai in November 2012 and is based on the “School in the Hospital” concept. It has classrooms, a computer lab, a staffroom, and a therapy room.
Our work and its impact
CanShala bridges the educational gap often faced by children who are being treated for cancer. It helps the children move forward with their education while they are undergoing treatment, creating normalcy and continuity in their lives, and enabling them to reintegrate into a regular school more easily after treatment.
How we will utilise these books
We aim to create 2 libraries for CanShala, one for each classroom. Not only will these books help the children widen their imaginations and visit new worlds, these libraries will also enable the children to develop their language, communication, and reading skills.
