Who we are
We are a small primary school in the village of Paduvani in Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka with a total strength of 40 students.
Our work and its impact
We are the only school in Paduvani and most of our students come from low-income families. Their parents are daily wage labourers enrolled in the MGNREGA scheme. A lack of a well-equipped library in our school has prompted us to raise a crowdfunding campaign to set up a library for our students. Most of the books currently available in the library are textbooks that children don’t like to read.
How we will utilise these books
The funds procured from this campaign will be used to get multilingual children’s storybooks for the school library. Children’s storybooks will help our students broaden their horizons and understand difficult concepts in an easy manner and the STEM storybooks from Pratham Books will motivate them to develop an interest in Science and Maths.
