Who we are
HEED India is an initiative of Samarpan Charitable Trust, a registered non-profit organisation established in 2012. HEED India was built on the founding pillars of Sports, Health, and Education, which we believe are the cornerstones of a progressive nation. Today, HEED India endeavours to touch as many lives as possible, with a mission to ensure that children from underserved communities in Mumbai are well-equipped to face life. At HEED India, we focus on two main divisions - Level Playing Field, the ongoing sports programme for aspiring young boys and girls, and our reading initiative, 1BookToRead, which inculcates a reading habit in children at an early age.
Our work and its impact
1BookToRead is an initiative that aims to encourage every child to believe in the power of their dreams and help them grow into positive citizens. We set up libraries in schools and community centres to provide children with the right books. We believe that if we support a child from a challenging environment by encouraging a reading habit, they will be well equipped to face life. When you support ‘1BookToRead’, you are empowering families in the long term to overcome the barriers of poverty and give their children the childhood they deserve. A holistically developed child is a nation’s treasure, and 1BookToRead is gearing up to create the citizens of tomorrow.
How we will utilise these books
The funds from this campaign will help us achieve the following goals:
1. Building libraries for children in BMC schools, aided and unaided schools, and community centres.
2. Working towards improving the children’s quality of life.
3. Helping underprivileged parents provide their children with a better future.
