Who we are
Our school is situated in the heart of a rural area in Kundapur Taluk of Udupi District. The students at our school hail from extremely impoverished families, many of whom migrated here to work as mining labourers from the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. These children not only face economic challenges but also language difficulties, making access to Kannada and English language books crucial for their educational development. The majority of our students are first-generation learners. Our school boasts a charming vegetable garden, and the children have taken it upon themselves to decorate and maintain a small library. However, to truly open the doors to the world of literature for these children, we need more books, and that's where we seek your support.
Our work and its impact
Our school's vegetable garden serves as a unique form of expression for our children. Through their work, they find their voices, gaining extensive knowledge about plants and participating in all phases of agriculture. The children actively contribute to preparing manure and engage in hands-on learning experiences related to agriculture.
How we will utilise these books
The funds raised through this crowdfunding initiative will be utilised to acquire a variety of storybooks from Pratham Books. These joyful books woven with beautifully imagined illustrations, will serve as a gateway to a new world of knowledge. By reading books, children develop a keen interest in learning, and this is particularly effective for first-generation students who may be unfamiliar with the joys of reading.
