Who we are
Have you ever thought what if every dream is given a chance, What if every child believes in himself/herself. When we were children, books rendered us a gateway to imagine, to wonder, to dream, why not remove this as some far fetched privilege and give this basic accessibility where they read and grow and wonder. Here, we have thought about a couple of books for all age groups, with our own familiar Indian settings, so that kids understand a world outside their own small world, where they live.
Our work and its impact
I am working as a fellow with Teach For India Ahmedabad. With a vision to provide excellent education to all children we teach in underprivileged schools across 7 cities in country. I teach in one such schools in Ahmedabad. I teach 134 brave 5th graders , each having high hopes and vision to be life long learner. Keeping this in mind I thought of creating a classroom library with books from Indian context and puzzles.
How we will utilise these books
Teach for India's vision is to provide excellent and holistic education in low income public and private schools. I am a teaching fellow working in one such schools in Ahmedabad. Kids in our school comes from background where their parents aren't much invested in their studies and they have zero or very less exposure to outside world, I get a chance to work with them for these 2 years and have realized that books are the best source of exposure after travelling (which is something not under my locus of control). So we wish to create library in our classroom and provide them with best possible support The books will be used for a class library
