Who we are
We believe in encouraging a lifetime of learning by instilling the habit of reading at an early age. Shiksha Educational Centers are looking to strengthen and expand existing library facilities to benefit our students, and the community. Donate and instill a lifetime of learning to over 1,000 underprivileged children in Gurgaon!
Our work and its impact
Shiksha was established in 2002 by General OP Malhotra (Retd) to provide educational and vocational training opportunities for underprivileged children and youth. We operate three completely free Educational Centers for over 1,000 underprivileged children in Gurgaon, Haryana. We provide an enabling learning environment and offer scholarships to selected students to help them complete their education.
How we will utilise these books
In addition to completely free education, our centers provide students with free uniforms, books, notebooks, and a nutritious mid-day meal. As the students attending our Center's are primarily children of migrant laborers struggling to earn their livelihood, we work towards inculcating habits that will serve them for a lifetime Shiksha’s Mohyal Colony Educational Center has a small library which sorely needs up to date, quality reading materials. Your donation will provide new books for our students, and will help expand the existing but modest library facilities in Wazirabad and Chakkarpur village, in the form of “Library in a Classroom Kits.”
