Who we are
We are a class of 28 energetic 3rd graders studying in a Government school in Bangalore. Our Miss says " If you read books , you can learn new things and also speak better English".We like reading books and we want to read every book that we can lay our hands on. Alas! this cannot happen as we do not have a class library.But we believe - ' You' can make it happen by donating towards our camapign and helping us buy books for our library.
Our work and its impact
I,Rashmi Goudar, am a 2015 Teach for India fellow working with 28 3rd graders as their teacher.A software engineer by profession, now a teacher at heart. Teach for India is a NGO working towards education equity in India with the vision ' One day all children will attain an excellent education'.
How we will utilise these books
Its heart wrenching to see my 28 innocent 8 year olds struggle to read simple English words let alone sentences when compared to the same age kids of private English medium schools. I firmly believe that my students' demographics should not hinder their love for books and hence, reading. I am here to facilitate their learning and help them inch towards their dreams. Apart from teaching cirricullum, i also work towards providing them exposure and access to everything that a 8 year old must have irrespective of the background he/she comes from. The funds will be utilized towards building a class library which will host a variety of books that will help build a better society of well learned and informed citizens of tomorrow. Please remember - You can make it happen!
