Who we are
Eden Educational Resource Centre is a volunteer-driven centre in Madurai. For the past 30 years, we have conducted a variety of science and education-based activities for school and college students and teachers.
Our work and its impact
We conduct Mathematics Mela, Social Science festival, Metric mela, Bio walks, field visits, bird-watching and astronomy-based activities, simple science experiments, reading camp, toy-making and so on. We also celebrate special days like World Environment Day, Science Day, International Day of Immunology, International Literacy Day, etc and conduct special training activities. A foldscope is a microscope that can be made with simple and low-cost components like paper and a lens. This makes it accessible to communities worldwide. We have trained 1 lakh foldscope users. In 2021 we set up eight street libraries for underprivileged kids in Madurai to retain their reading habits during the pandemic.
How we will utilise these books
The funds from this campaign will be used to get joyful storybooks for our rural street libraries in Madurai. The English and Tamil storybooks from Pratham Books will help us improve their reading and writing skills.
