Who we are

In Arunachal Pradesh, rapid modernization is reshaping lifestyles, creating a gap between generations and putting indigenous cultural heritage at risk. To address this, the Donyi Polo Cultural and Charitable Trust (DPCCT) was established to preserve local knowledge, traditions, and community values while providing modern education to children in remote areas.

Nilung Tungko Pabo Gurukul, located in Pabo, Siang district, is the fourth Gurukul under DPCCT. A Gurukul is a traditional residential school where students live and learn under teachers’ guidance, combining academics with lessons in language, customs, rituals, and moral values. The Gurukul integrates CBSE academics with indigenous teachings and currently serves 100 students from the Adi community. By blending tradition with modern learning, the school helps children grow with confidence, curiosity, and a deep connection to their roots.

The Adi people, known for bamboo and cane craftsmanship, celebrate festivals like Solung, Etor, and Unying/Aran, and express their heritage through dances, music, and local cuisine. The Gurukul nurtures this cultural knowledge while preparing students to navigate the modern world.
