Who we are
Don Bosco Anbu Illam is a home dedicated to supporting HIV-affected children in Namakkal District. We also open our space to children from other districts upon the request of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Our outreach extends to neighbouring villages, where we target 400 children across 10 villages, providing them with a safe environment to play, learn, and grow together, fostering social responsibility among them.
Our work and its impact
We bring children together daily under the guidance of local volunteers, engaging them in group activities that promote play, learning, and social responsibility. The impact of our work is evident in the positive changes in the children's behaviour, as well as improvements in their reading and writing skills. The children also show a strong commitment to communal causes and social good.
How we will utilise these books
The storybooks by Pratham Books will be used regularly by the children from Namakkal and neighbouring villages. The books will be made available in their mother tongue language Tamil and also in English. We will be conducting reading sessions for 20 minutes every day at the centre. The children will also have the opportunity to borrow the books to take home and read.
