Who we are

Deepak Foundation, a leading nonprofit, is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of Deepak Nitrite Ltd. It was established in 1982 with a vision: providing healthcare to the families of the workers and communities residing in the industrial area of Nandesari, Gujarat. Over the years, we have expanded our reach to cover women empowerment and education and set up branches in 35 districts in 8 states.

Our work and its impact

Project Vivek Vidya is a unique project conceptualised by Deepak Foundation. It is a Mobile Education Service that caters to underprivileged and low-income communities in rural and tribal areas that have limited access to quality and affordable reading resources. It is designed not only to expose children to quality reading materials but also to develop their reading skills and other learning competencies crucial to achieving academic success. The focus of the programme is to equip and support children with the necessary skills so they don’t drop out of school.

How we will utilise these books

The Covid-19 outbreak has completely disrupted children’s lives. A study conducted by Azim Premji University on learning losses during the pandemic shows prolonged school closures have had a significantly negative impact on children. According to the study, nearly 92% of children have lost at least one specific language ability and 82% have lost at least one mathematical ability. With thousands of children in many states still struggling to continue their education, Project Vivek Vidya’s aim is to bridge this gap with the funds raised from this campaign. Pratham Books multilingual storybooks will give children in remote areas windows to the fascinating worlds of Science, Maths and Technology in mother tongue languages. More than 2000 children will be able to develop their linguistic, cognitive and communication skills.
