Who we are
Community Human Empowerment Service for Society (CHESS) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Chitradurga District, Karnataka. Our organisation is dedicated to promoting rural education for children in need and conducting Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities. We currently operate in the districts of Hassan, Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, and Davangere in Karnataka.
Our work and its impact
CHESS NGO operates across four districts in Karnataka, focusing on sectors such as agriculture, education, health and sanitation, skill development, and water conservation. Our latest initiative is a pilot project in Hassan, Chitradurga, and Davangere districts, targeting underprivileged children in both rural and urban areas. As part of this effort, we are launching a 'Save Government Schools' campaign to support and enhance the quality of education in these communities.
In the field of education, CHESS organises extracurricular activities for needy children and raises funds through individual donations to distribute educational materials. With the support of Pratham Books, we also establish libraries in underserved institutions, ensuring that children have access to quality reading materials.
How we will utilise these books
The funds raised from this campaign will be used to add storybooks from Pratham Books to the library for evening school students in Tadaga. These multilingual STEM books added to the library will serve nearly 100 children in the village, providing them with valuable resources to expand their understanding and opening a world of opportunities that reading can provide.
