Who we are
Community Development Association (CDA) Trust is dedicated to empowering children, women, and youth from marginalized communities in Mankhurd. We established a community library to bridge the educational gap for first-generation learners, out-of-school children, and young readers from low-income families. Through storytelling sessions, reading circles, and creative learning programmes, we nurture confidence, literacy, and imagination among children who often lack access to resources. The library also provides a safe, inclusive space where children can read, learn, and grow.
Our work and its impact
We provide free access to books, digital education, and skill-based workshops to marginalized children and youth. Our work nurtures a reading culture, improves literacy skills, and builds confidence in learners. By creating inclusive spaces, we ensure that children from low-income backgrounds have equal opportunities to learn, dream, and thrive.
Beyond books, we host literacy sessions, storytelling workshops, career guidance activities, and community programmes to ensure holistic development. These efforts not only improve children’s reading skills but also strengthen their ability to dream, express themselves, and build a brighter future.
Our programmes also engage parents and community members, making education a collective responsibility. This community-driven approach helps create sustainable change and inspires children to become lifelong learners.
How we will utilise these books
The procured books will be added to our community library and used in regular reading programmes, book clubs, and mobile library sessions. Children will borrow books for home reading, while facilitators will use them for storytelling, drama activities, and literacy workshops. Some books will also be taken to local schools as part of our outreach. This will ensure that the books reach both regular library users and children in underserved neighbourhoods.
By supporting this fundraiser, you will help us bring the joy of reading and lifelong learning to children who need it most, creating opportunities that can transform their lives and communities.
