Who we are
Project Kitape Katha Koi is a community-based initiative started in April 2020, which strives to introduce the joy of reading to children. We invite children to embark on their reading journeys by organising various book-centric activities, and setting up mobile libraries, pop-up libraries under trees in parks, organising virtual storytelling sessions, and book circulation programmes, etc.
We firmly believe in the power of reading and the impact it can have on children’s cognitive, linguistic and social-emotional development.
Our work and its impact
Since our inception in April 2020, our focus has been on building community libraries in rural Assam. Our goal now is to open our first community library in Ahatguri, Assam in April 2021.
How we will utilise these books
The funds from this crowdfunding campaign will be used to procure multilingual storybooks from Pratham Books to fill the shelves of the first community library in Ahatguri. The books will be circulated among the children and also be used to facilitate storytelling and read-aloud sessions at the library.
