Who we are
The Life Vision Academy is a primary school (LKG to 6th standard) in the town of Yuksam, nestled at the foothills of the Kanchenjunga. These 170 children are supported by 6 incredibly committed teachers who are seeking resources to improve the learning outcomes of their children. A library is a key first step in this direction. They have volunteers to build their bookshelves - all they need now are BOOKS!!!
Our work and its impact
I am a volunteer with the Life Vision Academy in Yuksam, Sikkim. I met the dwellers of this beautiful mountain village 8 years ago when I went to Sikkim on my first trek. I live in Bangalore and run a software consulting company.
How we will utilise these books
The Life Vision Academy strives to create learners in this rural village in Sikkim. The staff there battle odds of daunting living conditions and meager resources to keep children in school and help them learn. The books that this campaign will provide will go a long way in bringing alive educational concepts and more importantly, helping the staff imbibe in the children, from an early age, a love for reading.
