How we will utilise these books

Anando's programmes include a weekend recreation club, an after-school support facility, a school partnership project, a library and out reach workshops. We have chosen to work with the same groups of children over an extended period of time. The trust given to us has been heartening, allowing us to experiment freely with new ideas and programmes. Children who have grown up through our programmes show increased self confidence, more motivation to engage with the community and greater interest in ideas and situations beyond their doorstep. Anando's library, Anandapaath (Joyful Reading),is a popular venue for the children. It has a sizable collection of books in Bengali , English and Hindi pertaining to all age groups. The idea behind the library is not only to encourage reading but also to make it non-threatening and enjoyable...just like any other hobby! We find that our children are attracted to books that are colourful with attractive pictures and easy-to-read text....just like the books from Pratham. With your help we can make more books available to our young readers and you too will have the pleasure of knowing that you have helped yet another fresh mind discover the untold joys of reading!
