Who we are
We are trying to build a diversified library which can utilized in a fashion that library becomes a part of mainstream teaching in our school. Since, the kids belong to low income groups in rural areas, they can't afford books. Also, being a government school we don't have enough grants for books. We are trying to improve vanchan or 'reading' skills of kids.
Our work and its impact
MY name is Shuvopriyo Roy and I am a Gandhi Fellow. Through this campaign I am trying to promote the idea and importance of library in mainstream education. If this campaign works here, I shall use the impact story to motivate and impact and scale it up at a district level.
How we will utilise these books
I work for Kaivalya Education Foundation as a Gandhi fellow. We work at district level with CRCs in a supporting role to improve the Student learning outcomes in the district of Surat, specifically block of olpad in my domain equaling to 121 schools in my context. The collected funds will be used to buy book and hence create role models in stakeholders who will influence and propagate the idea of library and it's involvement in mainstream teaching.
