Know more about us
Who we are
We are a class of 43 students (2nd standard) studying in a low income private school in Ahmedabad. We like to read story books that are picture heavy. Eventually, our bhaiyya has set the goal for us to be able to read books that are text heavy. Our bhaiyya says that a reader will become a better leader. Your donation will help us to read books during the reading workshops.
Our work and its impact
I am a Teach for India fellow teaching 43 second graders in a low income private school in Ahmedabad. Apart from maths, basic literacy skills depends heavily on a student's ability to read. Your valuable donation will help us achieve the literacy targets set for our classroom.
How we will utilise these books
As a Teach for India fellow, we teach at low income public/private schools. Currently, our presence is in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. Our work impacts the society directly as the students grow up to be good citizens instead of belonging to the statistics group of drop-outs, criminals and other negative alliances. Our work helps schools improve their quality of education while we learn about the present scenario of the education system in our country. The funds will help us purchase Pratham books that are categorized based on levels. The level 1 books are picture heavy that will develop our interest in reading. Similarly, level 2 books will build on that interest and help us become readers for life. We would like to have these two levels of books in our classroom for our reading workshops and beyond.
