Who we are
Having the choice of reading stories in your own language is freedom! Every child in India should have a book to read in a language she understands and loves. Celebrate the month of Independence with us as we democratize the joy of reading a good storybook, in one's own language! Help us make #FreedomtoRead a reality by helping us put together a library pack of 200 books in Bengali for CESR, based out of Purulia.
Our work and its impact
CESR has started ten(10) education centers on Sept 2013 & another two education centers during 2014 which reaching an enrollment figure of 748 in 12 most backward villages at Ajodhya hills, Bagmundi,Purulia. Most of these centers are situated in difficult terrains and located at a distance of 2-3 km away from nearby Govt Schools. Majority of the children enrolled are within age group of 6-14yrs, where some are first timers extremely irregular and others who dropped out from formal schools.
How we will utilise these books
CESR education centers encourage non-formal enrollment which means children can join in these schools irrespective of their age. They enjoy attending this education centers because learning becomes joyful here with play, music, rhymes, painting/drawing, clay modelling etc. The teachers and CESR staffs have constant communication with parents and community about the progress of the children’s learning. Besides, CESR staffs provide necessary support for admission in different mainstream schools for higher level. These funds will be utilized for adding 200 new books in Bengali in the existing libraries of the CESR centers at Pururlia.
