Our work and its impact

Dedicated to empowering future generations, Surya Foundation operates these learning centres in 18 states of India. Each centre conducts two-hour sessions daily in the evenings, offering a safe and nurturing environment for children to develop their innate abilities through experiential and collective learning. These centres are strategically located in low-income areas where access to quality education and learning resources is limited.

Based on our work with rural communities, we find that there is a considerable lack of availability of age-appropriate content for these kids to read and learn. To bridge this gap, we opened two Bal Pustakalayas (children’s libraries) in our learning centres in Nayagaon and Sankhol villages of Haryana. These illustrated books with age-appropriate content were procured locally and generated a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm among kids.
