Who we are

With help of over 150 dedicated Mumbaikars who have committed 2 to 3 hours of their week to work with the lesser privileged children almost 700 children receive daily lessons in English and Math in 6 public parks across Mumbai. We seek books so that our children can read as per their abilities.

Our work and its impact

At AXF we believe that every child deserves education and opportunities and that through redistribution of resources, a more efficient and homogenous society can be created. Our philosophy is to redistribute and create social change. In a scenario where slums coexist in close proximity to high-rises across Mumbai, the solution for us was simple: create opportunities for interaction and exchange through community programs designed to help children with the help of their more educated and affluent neighbors.

How we will utilise these books

1. AXF Classrooms in Parks – Through this program, we facilitate free tutoring for school going children from slum communities with help from their educated, affluent neighbors who don’t just volunteer as teachers, but also participate as mentors and guides. 2. In-School English program – Children studying in vernacular medium schools have little or no ability in English, our In-School English program helps children studying in vernacular medium municipal schools with daily English lessons by AXF sponsored teachers. The Angel Xpress centers have largely been carried forward by young mothers, typically women who had elected to sacrifice careers to bring up their own children and now want to use their ability and resources to touch many more lives. In addition we have a fair number of active senior citizens, youth from schools and colleges, freelance professionals as well as corporate volunteers. The funds will be utilized to buy a book for every child at our center in line with their reading abilities so we can work more effectively with similar ability groups.
