Know more about us

Who we are

Asha Trust has been dedicated to catalysing socio-economic change for the marginalized through education. Our primary objective is to provide educational opportunities to the children from marginalized communities. We also collaborate with individuals and organisations engaged in similar initiatives. In addition to education, we also work to spread awareness for issues such as healthcare, environmental sustainability, socio-economic development, and women’s rights.

Our work and its impact

We focus on the education of children from marginalised communities, with a particular emphasis on empowering women and initiating dialogues on critical social issues. Each of our libraries benefit around 45 girls from remote villages daily who in general do not have access to safe space, educational material, and guidance..

We also run a variety of programs including:

    • -Constitution awareness
    • -Workshops on safe and unsafe touch
    • -Dialogues with young girls on topics such as education, health, safety, and respect
    • -Formation of self-reliant groups
    • -Social education centres
These programs annually reach 12,000 children from classes 8-12 across 60-70 schools and 2,000 children from classes 3-5 in 8-10 schools. Additionally, it impact the lives of 800 young women every year by providing academic support, mentorship, exposure, guidance, and interactive platforms.

How we will utilise these books

The funds raised through this campaign will be used to procure storybooks from Pratham Books, which will be utilised as follows:

  1. Establishing libraries in remote locations for girl students under the "Joy of Reading" campaign.
  2. Replenishing mobile libraries, which conduct library classes in remote government schools and informal evening community schools.
  3. Supporting our broader initiatives, including constitution awareness workshops, safe/unsafe touch workshops, dialogues on various social issues in schools, and the formation of self-reliant groups and social education centres.
The books will benefit children in rural areas as well as those from low-income urban communities.
