Who we are

Opportunity Foundation Trust, known as The Avasar Foundation was set up in 2012 to provide quality education to underprivileged girls in Bangalore. The Avasar Foundation was flagged off with a project to provide scholarships to deserving meritorious girls and give them better employment opportunities. Avasar has come a long way since its inception. We have set up computer labs in government schools to promote digital literacy and built five pre-primary schools that provide free education to around 300 young minds from low-income backgrounds. We have also undertaken several school development projects and set up a training and development centre that helps young women become proficient in using computers, improves their communication skills and conducts workshops to enhance interview skills and so on.

Our work and its impact

Today, Avasar has been able to impact around 10,000 students. Our preschools for 350 students are equipped with state-of-the-art teaching aids and education is provided free of cost. We also provide curriculum books along with uniforms to reduce the financial burden on the parents. The school development projects include the construction of new classrooms, toilets and other infrastructure as required by the government schools.

How we will utilise these books

Avasar believes in promoting the healthy habit of reading and that children should be encouraged to read from a young age. They are curious, inquisitive and absorb everything like a sponge. They can be better learners in future with an improved vocabulary and good communication skills. Reading broadens their horizons and encourages them to dream big. It's only when we dream BIG, that we can create miracles!
With the funds from this campaign, a library will be set up in each class and will be available at all times for the students. A silent book club will also be formed as part of a reading programme to promote the habit of reading, where children can participate and share what they read. There are no age criteria and anyone is free to join the club.
