Who we are
Makkala Jagriti is a non-profit organisation in Karnataka whose motto is ‘Where you are born should not limit how far you go,’. We provide children from diverse backgrounds from all over Karnataka with a safe space to grow. Aiming for the all-around development of each and every child associated with the organisation, the team works tirelessly towards developing and sustaining programmes such as Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), Holistic Development Learning Centres (HDLC), Yuva Jagriti, and more. To further our vision of promoting holistic growth, we use the SPICE model to focus on the Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative, and Emotional aspects of learning. Makkala Jagriti strives to pursue these objectives in keeping with the government’s policy.
Our work and its impact
Since 2003, Makkala Jagriti has been encouraging children and youth to overcome their socio-economic roadblocks and discover their true potential by providing a conducive learning environment. Alongside working on personality development and leadership skills, the organisation runs a scholarship programme to brighten the futures of deserving students. With an immensely capable army of volunteers, Makkala Jagriti impacts the lives of 30,000 children every day.
How we will utilise these books
Makkala Jagriti has impacted 200 anganwadis all over Karnataka. The storybooks from this campaign will be read by the children in these anganwadis. We will use the multilingual storybooks from Pratham Books to enrich their learning experience. Through this campaign, we aspire to inculcate a reading habit in many children and help them grow into lifelong readers.
