Who we are
Gift A Library is an initiative to introduce underprivileged children to the joy of reading by making quality reading materials accessible to them. We collect pre-loved books from donors and set up libraries in various schools and clubs.
Our work and its impact
We have set up 14 children’s libraries across India with storybooks from a plethora of genres and themes. By accepting pre-loved storybooks we ensure that used storybooks are not discarded, and instead, they bring joy to new readers. Reading is an essential part of growing up and it contributes to a child’s overall growth and development. We are one step closer to making our society a better place for children by making storybooks more accessible for them.
How we will utilise these books
The funds received from this campaign will be used to get delightful storybooks from Pratham Books. They will be used to set up joyful reading spaces for kids who enjoy reading and are waiting to read new books. The multilingual books will encourage them to read more and will help them broaden their horizons.
We are raising these funds for
Open House is a curated charity pop-up event that showcases artists, designers, entrepreneurs, workshops, panel discussions, stalls and live performances. The event has two primary goals— to provide new and upcoming artists a platform to network and showcase their work and to also help a non-profit organisation. We work with a different organisation for each event and try to support them in whatever way we can through profits from the ticket sales. We have organised five pop-up events in the past and have worked with organisations such as Kidwai, Charlie’s Animal Rescue Centre, Vallabh Niketan, Tinka Samajik Sanstha, Solidarity Foundation, and Navasakti Trust. This time we will be working with Pratham Books. Our goal is to help get books to as many children as possible in and around Bangalore and introduce them to the joy of reading.
