Who we are
For the last 16 years, Bal Shikshan Manch has conducted free classes for workers in the unorganised sector living in various settlements in the Market Yard area in Pune and for students of classes 1st to 12th in government schools. Alongside educational guidance, many personality development activities are conducted throughout the year. Approximately 50 students are enrolled in the classes.
Our work and its impact
Bal Shikshan Manch works with children from low-income backgrounds who are frequently exposed to the dangers of addiction, youth violence, and gang activities. We help them with their overall academic and personality development. Many of them cannot read the local language, Marathi, at their grade levels. To help bridge this gap, we run an evening study centre to improve their reading and writing skills.
How we will utilise these books
The funds from this campaign will be used to get joyful storybooks from Pratham Books for our study centre.
Our goal is to inculcate a love of reading among the children and thereby encourage them to visit the study centre more often.
