Who we are
Adhyayan Quality Education Foundation is a section 8 company with a GuideStar Gold Certification. Co-founded by Kavita Anand, an Ashoka Fellow, it is an organisation that improves the quality of education in schools across India. In 2021, we were recognised as one of India’s Top 50 Covid-19 Last-Mile Responders by the World Economic Forum. Since 2018, we have partnered with the Government of Goa to deliver a comprehensive Systemic School Improvement programme across 800+ government schools. We have also worked with the Delhi Commission for the Protection of Child Rights across 5600 schools to build a School Development Index and other credible civil society and government agencies like Antarang Foundation, Lighthouse Communities Foundation, and Ashiyana Foundation. In 2021 we started working in partnership with the governments of Tripura (200 government schools) and Arunachal Pradesh (100 government schools). We have been supported by organisations like Tata Trusts, A.T.E. Chandra Foundation, SBI Foundation, Cipla Foundation, Mastek Foundation, Gyan Prakash Foundation, Sai Life Sciences and more.
Our work and its impact
We work with school principals and district and state officials to improve the quality of education in schools across India. We support government and government-aided schools in Goa, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh that educate some of the most vulnerable communities. Apart from helping states launch a Systemic School Improvement Programme, we also improve foundational literacy through Read-aloud, help students make better choices through Career Aware, and encourage community-wide partnerships to make learning processes holistic. Our approach is reflected in:
- Empowering school leaders.
- Focus on child-centred learning.
- Partnerships between all stakeholders including the school, the government and the wider community.
- Teachers with a deeper understanding of the learning process.
How we will utilise these books
Libraries in Goa’s government schools need storybooks that are filled with engaging visuals for their primary grade students. We will first assess the students’ literacy levels through conversations with the school teachers. Based on the assessment we will decide what kind of books would be appropriate for the children. We will distribute the books among the schools depending upon the school’s resources and the size of the student population. The volunteers who will conduct read-aloud will become familiar with the books through regular training sessions. Students who have missed out on schooling for nearly two years will be brought back into the fold and will resume their learning through read-aloud. Thus the storybooks will support their language skills and be a source of social-emotional well-being. Your contribution to our fundraising campaign will help us get Pratham Books’ multilingual storybooks that will help the children enhance their vocabulary, become independent readers, and develop social skills by narrating the stories to each other.
