Who we are
I am an alumnus of a government high school in Bolangir district, Odisha. Due to the lockdowns imposed by the Covid-19 virus, I returned to my village and visited my old school. Seeing the dilapidated state of my school, I enlisted the help of my fellow alumni, the local government and a corporate to renovate the school. We equipped the school with SMART classrooms, a laboratory, clean toilets, an e-library, a playground, and safe drinking water.
Our work and its impact
I have worked in the social development sector for more than two decades. My aim is to improve the quality of education that the schools in my village provide. Students from ten primary schools in my village attend my former high school. I donated 100 storybooks to the primary school in my village to set the ball rolling to achieve my target of providing Odia storybooks to the remaining schools.
How we will utilise these books
I have started a crowdfunding campaign to achieve my dream of gifting storybooks to all ten primary schools and helping the students achieve foundational literacy. My aim is to inculcate a reading habit in children at an early age. The storybooks received from this campaign will be kept in every classroom so children can have direct access to them. I hope that reading joyful storybooks in their mother tongue will encourage the children to enhance their reading and writing skills, and improve in their academics.
