Who we are
HUManity (Humanity Uplifting Mankind) is an NGO working towards ensuring the holistic development of children living in child-care institutions. We are registered under the A.P. Societies Act in 2019 and are currently associated with seven child-care institutions in Visakhapatnam. 100+ passionate volunteers positively impact the lives of 250+ children.
Our work and its impact
The children are enrolled in various programmes:
1. Impacting Education
Foundation Programme: A three-hour weekly programme that helps children achieve the required foundational literacy level.
Exposure Programme: A bi-weekly programme to teach them essential life skills and strengthen the basics taught in the foundation programme.
Library Project: Setting up mini-libraries to inculcate the habit of reading among the children.
2. Improving the living conditions
Project Renovate: This programme aims to assess the child-care institutions’ buildings and renovate the infrastructure to meet the norms set by the Juvenile Justice Act 2015.
How we will utilise these books
The funds raised from this campaign will be used to procure multilingual storybooks from Pratham Books for the upcoming libraries in the child-care institutions. We believe that reading storybooks will help the children hone their linguistic and cognitive skills and thereby build their self-confidence. As Children’s Day is round the corner, we want to celebrate the occasion by spreading the joy of reading with children.
