Who we are

Gramothhan is a non-profit organisation based in Sonepur district, Odisha.
The poor quality of education in our district motivated us to strive towards improving the quality of education in rural and tribal areas by setting up community learning centres, community libraries and school transformation programmes through collaborations and participatory approaches.

Our work and its impact

At Gramothhan, we work on improving reading habits in rural Odisha by setting up community libraries. Our library educators bring in age-appropriate books and give children the freedom to choose what they like from the set. They also organise regular read-alouds, storytelling sessions, games, and creative discussions to engage with the children and introduce them to the joy of reading.

How we will utilise these books

With the funds from this campaign, we will set up five community libraries with the space provided by the community. The libraries will be open everyday for four to five hours during which children can enjoy the books and participate in the fun activities organised by the library educators. This will positively impact their cognitive development and also bridge the gap between the school and community. Help us introduce the children of Sonepur district to the world of storybooks through which they will be able to learn and discover the world around them in new and fun ways.
